You should see all the people getting their pictures taken at this island's signature sign! This was early morning so there weren't too many people but as the day goes on there is a never ending stream of tourists taking pictures of the sign and on the sign.
The idea was a sign that would be to the Wildwoods what another oversized sign is to the movie capital of the universe, Hollywood.
The roughly $1 million setup went up in 2007 at Wildwood's main entrance, just south of the Wildwoods Convention Center. And since then, "It has become an icon of the Wildwoods. ... It helps to promote and brand the Wildwoods."
Image has been treated with digital software to achieve a "painted effect."
