Description
Jersey City Mural # 12 by Allen Beatty
Initiated in 2013 and funded by a Clean Communities Grant, the Jersey City Mural Arts Program links established and emerging local, national and international mural artists with property owners city-wide as part of an innovative beautification program that reduces graffiti, engages local residents and is transforming Jersey City into an outdoor art gallery.
From the Heights, to Greenville, to Downtown, to the West Side, to Bergen Lafayette and Journal Square, Jersey City’s cultural scene continues to expand and diversify.
Here we see a mural entitled Frederick Henry, Prince of Orange and a Lenape Indian by mural artist Gaia on Christopher Columbus Drive.
I actually had photographed this building many years ago when the subject of the mural was the Statue of Liberty. It can be seen in the first panel of the Jersey City Murals series.
