he New Jersey Devils honored one of their greatest players by retiring his number 30 jersey. Along with that jersey ceremony the Devils also dedicated a statue for their three-time winning Stanley Cup goalie outside of The Prudential Center (The Rock) in Newark, N.J.
Brodeur spent nearly all of his 22-year career with the Devils, the team that drafted him in the first round of the 1990 NHL draft.
Brodeur is the NHL's all-time leader in wins (691), shutouts (125) and games played for a goalie (1,266). He is one of just two goalies (Patrick Roy) that have played in at least 1,000 career games.
He won three Stanley Cups during his time with the Devils and four Vezina Trophies as the NHL's top goalie.
He was also credited with three goals during his career, also a record for goalies. Only Ron Hextall (two) has been credited with more than one.
The statue known as "The Salute" memorializes Brodeur raising his stick to the fans after the Devils' 2013-14 season finale, his last game for the franchise.
