In 1860, according to one Charlestonian, "South Carolina seceded from the Union, Charleston seceded from South Carolina, and south of Broad Street seceded from Charleston." The city preserves its early years with hundreds of homes, and churches of historical or architectural interest. The cobblestone streets, flower boxes, and decorative wrought iron make it one of the most charming cities you can visit and a photographer's smorgasbord. I could spent weeks there taking pictures but when you are on vacation your time is limited. These are my impressions.
